Planning, meet execution.

playground_slideNot having a plan rarely works out well, whether it’s playground design or marketing, and poor execution can sabotage the best of plans. So Ad Giants will help clients sidestep both pitfalls with a strategic partership just announced with Moderandi, Inc.

Our tools for stressed marketers.

Tough times are old news, but the Association of National Advertisers (ANA) put some numbers to it, and they’re painful. Their survey shows that 93 percent of marketing industry respondents are focused on cost savings and reductions with 37 percent planning to cut budgets more than 20 percent.

The Ad Giants news wires are buzzing. A partnership, an acquisition, and redesign.

It’s been a while since we talked about us, Ad Giants, so here’s an update (there’s even more in the pipeline.)

First, we’ve redesigned the Ad Giants site to accommodate our expanding arsenal of marketing products. The most recent addition is PitchRocket, which you can explore at its new home. It will be formally unveiled at the IFA Show.  We’re especially excited to offer a solution as innovative and effective as PitchRocket now, to help marketers adapt to current economic realities. Clearly, the time is right, according to research cited here: [Read more →]

Advertising as crime scene.

True, some advertising should be declared a crime scene, but mercifully for all of us, most ad veterans know how to have fun with the business while still taking it seriously. That was the tone at the annual convention last month for J.D. Byrider, an Ad Giant client who recently upgraded to the latest release of the ONE System. The C.S.I theme (creativity, strategy, implementation) was a natural for the North Miami meeting venue. Some of the Ad Giants team who helped pull off the exhibit and related creative services had so much fun while being paid that they felt guilty for upwards of six seconds. Behind the table are Amanada Long, Ad Giants Director of Client Services and Jim England, President of J.D. Byrider Advertising. The dark haired investigator is Audrey Ryder, also of J.D. Byrider Advertising. The lab tech is Kim Ramirez of Keltner, Inc.

And now, some straight testimonial.

Given the previous post about compensated brand ambassadors, it seems like a good time to contrast it with some nice uncompensated testimonial, in this case from Ad Giant Client Just Between Friends. I’ve long been a fan of real testimonials, even though my first experience with them was listening to mall intercepts of people sampling “New Coke,” a process that required listening to many, many hours of tape in order to get sixty seconds of positive comments.

Free Tees for marketing types.

Due to the fact that The Ad Giants were too busy demoing the system to remember to hand out all our swag at the last show we attended, we have a limited supply of nifty Ad Giants Tees. We have three messages: Major Marketing Tool, A Brand’s Best Friend, and Under Control in sizes medium and large. My code-guru friend Cal models one here, looking Teutonic to me, though he claims the effect he was going for was “studly.”

Single panel commentary.

Every so often I read so much on one subject that my head fills up, and I have to try to condense it into a cartoon, just to help me feel as if I have a handle on it. Lately much of my reading has been about marketers trying to harness the perceived promise of social media, empowered consumerism, persuasion by and for the people — that kind of thing. Here’s the cartoon that popped out, inspired at least partly by the Facebook adventure. As always, if you have a better caption, feel free toss it up. Incidentally, this cartoon looks more polished than my others because I didn’t draw it. Instead, Ad Giant Jay did the art in less than an hour, which stunned me.sheeptwobubbles.jpg

Random moments in art.

spaz.jpgsignhead.jpgBeing a writer type, my art and graphics skills are dubious, but that won’t stop me from pointing out arty things that catch my eye for one reason or another.First, enjoy this fine logo from the creator of Spaz, a very cool open source twitter client that our friend Cal pointed out to me. The awestruck nerd inside a star and circle reminiscent of the Army-Air Force symbol (sans wings) just seems fun, pleasant, and digital-retro cool. And then there’s the erupting head from a company in the sign business. It disturbs me, though I’ll admit I am not the audience.tshirt-major-marke.jpgSpeaking of the audience, if you’re part of it at the International Franchise Association’s 48th Annual Convention (Feb 9-12, Orlando,) come see the Ad Giants at booths 919 and 921 at the center of the floor. Not only will you get a peek at the powerful upgrades in Ad Giants ONE System version 5.0, but there’s a chance you could score some tasty schwagery (the shirt shown here is an example. Click it to watch it plump.) Lastly can I get some props for the local-news-class segue that began this paragraph? Thank you. I’ll be here all week.

A frenzy of dowels, cams and hand trucks as Ad Giants move.

New clients, new Ad Giants, and now, new furniture for our new digs. It’s movin’ on up day for the Ad Giants, also furniture assembly day. Experience the magic vicariously without having to actually handle an allen wrench of screwdriver, courtesy of our CEO David Farmer’s phone cam. That’s Ad Giants COO Steve Perkins and Brand Management Specialist Philip Prather. Reassuringly, assembly instructions are visible.
