It’s not easy being a man-ape.
Name, notwithstanding, Boston Pizza is a Canadian company, not that geography fully explains the use of and subsequent firing of Sasquatch as a spokesbeast.
Turns out, the advertising was unpopular with the franchisees, and that was his death knell. It’s nice to see corporate responding to the field, and it’s also nice to see an ad agency doing the research within an organization to find the brand’s core. However, I would like to have seen Amy Poehler and Will Arnett in the campaign that didn’t win the pitch, just because, let’s face it, they are entertaining, maybe too entertaining.
Still, I think they should do one more Sasquatch spot — in which he gets fired. They could explain his severance and any retirement rollovers.
Here’s some of the spokesbeast’s previous work.
